Based on one of the world’s highest-grade known zinc deposits, Dugald River is located approximately 65km north-west of Cloncurry in Queensland, Australia.

Dugald River is a top -10 global zinc mine and will process an average 1.7 million tonnes per annum of ore to initially produce 170,000 tonnes of zinc in concentrate at full ramp-up, plus by-products. The mine will operate over an estimated 25 years while the ore body remains open at depth.

Powerlines Plus successfully completed in conjunction with Zinfra Group the construction of a 220kV transmission line in the outback town of Cloncurry in Queensland covering more than 63kms.

For the end client MMG, PLP assembled and erected 182, 9 tonne power poles using large cranes in harsh terrain, with the ability to receive concrete backfill within the 24 hour required timeframe. Using Helicopter methods the transmission line was strung with three phases and an OPGW.

The project faced tough and harsh environmental conditions in remote Queensland with temperatures soaring daily above 40 degrees. A testament to the work crews to complete this project injury free, on time and on budget.
