Pilbara Transmission Project – 220kV Transmission Lines & Substations

Overview

Fortescue’s Pilbara Transmission Project aims to integrate the company’s iron ore mining and port operations in the Pilbara into one common 220kV network comprising 325km of 220kV Transmission Line and 4 Substations to date.

The Pilbara Transmission Project (Stage 1) consists of 225km of 220kV High-Voltage Transmission Lines and 4 220kV Transmission Substations (Gas Insulated Switchgear) connecting Fortescue’s mine sites.

Genus completed the Design & Construction of this High Voltage transmission infrastructure which was substantially completed within 18 months. Such a timeline demonstrates Genus' capability and capacity to deliver large scale High Voltage transmission infrastructure )powerlines and substations) through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Pilbara Transmission Project (Stage 3) consists of nearly 100km of 220kV High Voltage transmission line currently under construction by Genus.

This will enable Fortescue’s existing Solomon Mine power station to supply power to the $2.6 billion Iron Bridge Magnetite Project, and connect to other assets.
